Bloor West Village is one of the best parts of Toronto, on the Jane Street and Bloor Street West corner sits this awesome fountain. I go there on many occasions, usually to think or rest from a long walk. One day I started taking photographs of it and this is what happened. Ta da! I took most of the shots at night, which is great for leaving your shutter open on your DSLR camera. This is kind of like light painting, but leaves more of a flowing almost soft effect.
There are some funny moments that happen with this fountain on a regular basis. So many times I've seen it foaming up, I think somebody thought it would be funny to put soap in the fountain. So you can only imagine how funny it looks with foam all over the place while the water is still running. Another fact is that this fountain runs all year round. They heat it up in the winter so the water still flows.
I've had moments of sadness while sitting here on the bench nearby, and moments of calmness. I love flowing water, there is something just so calming about it. If I'm sitting here however, I'm usually in a sad mood. Trying to figure out the best answer to a complicated life situation, or just battling a depressive episode.
So there you have it, the fountain of my life. Sometimes soapy, sometimes not, usually just a relaxing flow of liquid to make me calm down from a very stressful day.
