Ok so I know that the Filmores Hotel is one of the most sleaziest hotels in Toronto, but for some strange reason I love the look of it. It photographs so well no matter what angle you place it. I really don't need to know the details as to what happens on the inside (strippers, prostitutes, drugs, sex, etc.), considering that there is a strip bar right on the main floor of the place. Oh yippee, who cares. I'm just capturing the outside.
To get the above shot I was staying at the Grand Hotel, looked down from the roof and there it was in all its glory. People walking by at just the right time, taxi in just the right place. I guess this shows my inner scuz ball, however that is what it is. This kind of thing being in the city doesn't really bother me, have all the fun you want, just keep the violence out of it. Stay safe, and I wouldn't go near this place in the middle of the night. It's on Dundas Street East just west of Sherbourne Street.
I'm not really sure why this one stands out to me, just that I enjoy looking at some of the more run down buildings in the city of Toronto. I need that, I see it as art not garbage. Some would beg to differ and everyone is allowed there opinion. However, we all see different art in different things.
Last one of the Filmores Hotel for now. It brings out the retro in everything that it is. You know this building has been around for a long while. I love that Toronto still holds on to some of it old structures while building the new within it. This gives my city some structure and beauty. I love to live here, never wanting to live anywhere else. Home sweet home.
